Good Morning, Students!
A tax credit is a financial benefit that directly reduces the amount of tax an individual or business owes to the government. Unlike deductions, which lower taxable income, tax credits provide a dollar-for-dollar reduction of the tax liability. Tax credits can be either refundable, meaning they can result in a refund if they exceed the amount of tax owed, or non-refundable, which only reduce the tax liability to zero.
Use tax credits to lower your tax liability and maximize your savings.
